My path to a life-altering career

My journey into the world of healthcare, particularly my decision to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), is deeply rooted in a lifelong passion for the medical field. From a young age, I was fascinated by the complexities of the human body and the profound impact healthcare professionals have on people's lives. This fascination fueled my academic pursuits and led me down a rigorous educational path.

    Dear Professor Davis,

My name is Emonie Thompson, and it’s pronounced ee-moh-nee. I am currently taking my prerequisites for the Nursing Program. My goal is to become a Nurse Anesthetist and work in a dermatology office.

I have always known I would be in healthcare, mostly because my mom drilled that career into her children's heads. Though our mother Pushed us towards that career path I've learned in my early teens that health care was passionate about. I wasn't sure which route I wanted to take I know I wanted to help people but at the same time holding the power of life and death in my hands is something that I fear terribly. So, I decided that working in a critical health care position was not for me. In my late teen years, I started to realize that skin care really interests me I love watching Dr Pimple Popper YouTube videos of people pulling out ingrown hairs etc. So, I determined that I wanted to in a dermatology office and that has been my goal ever since. Now I will That's though it's something I really want it has been a struggle taking the courses and trying to balance that with my everyday adult duties. I currently have Two jobs and I'm trying to balance that with school I would say that is the hardest Because don't have help and I am doing everything by myself. It's also been mentally challenging. I spoke to a counselor the other day about the challenges of still being in school and feeling like I'm getting nowhere and accomplishing nothing. But this goal is something I'm very passionate about so I'm going to keep striving for it and pray that I just do better day by day.

I'm hoping to gain better speech skills through being more literate through this class. I currently don’t have any questions about this curriculum, but I am excited to see what I learned.

Respectfully yours,

"Emonie, your letter gives me a clear sense of who you are, what you have been carrying, and how much determination you have to keep moving forward even when things feel heavy. I really appreciate your honesty because it makes your letter feel genuine and gives me a better understanding of the goals and challenges you are bringing into this course. You have a strong personal story here, and with some revision for grammar, sentence flow, and formatting, your writing will communicate that even more clearly. If you would like in-line comments with more specific feedback on your writing, feel free to email me."

Motivation and dedication: my core strengths

What truly sets me apart is my unwavering motivation and dedication. I believe in perseverance and the power of not giving up, no matter the challenge. This drive has been instrumental in navigating the demanding educational requirements for a CRNA and continually honing my technical skills. My passion for healthcare and the medical field isn't just a career choice; it's a commitment to making a tangible difference in people's lives.

My what & why:

In my introduction letter, I mention that I knew I had a passion for healthcare at a young age. I specifically wanted to be the next Dr. Pimple Popper. I find it so satisfying to remove cysts, blackheads, ingrown hairs, etc. In my eyes, I'm making something beautiful, a person, guess that's my form of makeup. Over the years, I have tried to stick to jobs that will aid in my healthcare journey and provide me with knowledge. It was not until recently that I decided I wanted to be a CRNA. We'll be honest: I picked this particular nurse practitioner not only because of the pain but also because of the challenge. With that, I'm hoping to work as an ACR in A at a dermatology office in Miami. No, I'm not in this specific location because I am a city girl. I love the energy of people being around all the time, and I am a big beach person, as you can see from the photo to the right. So, I thought this would be perfect to combine all of my passions and goals into one big dream.
